The innovative activities are designed to be implemented immediately with little to no prep involved. The activities will be modeled and templates will shared. No One has time to reinvent the wheel! If you are looking for a fun filled hour of learning, stop by and see what else is out there to add to your google folder of formative assessments.

This session will introduce a comprehensive method based around a visual model that can be used to conceptually demonstrate computation. This model can be applied to everything from simple addition to algebra involving polynomials.
Math routines to build number sense, estimation and math conversations. I will be going over math routines that I use in my classroom such as Number Talks, Estimation 180 and others to challenge students to think deeper about math solutions and to create students who can articulate their mathematical thinking.
Have you ever tried to make a big change in your teaching and were not successful? If your attempt at change ended in failure, you are far from alone. In fact, the majority of goals we make will be abandoned before we make any significant progress. Why is it so hard to become the teacher we actually want to be? And what does it take to get to the breakthrough we are seeking? In this interactive and experiential session, we will explore and practice together several life-giving attributes of a "teachable" teacher (e.g., reflective, connected and surrendered). Be encouraged: change is possible!

We will briefly describe and show our Science Starters and how we use them for aggressive monitoring, spiral review, etc. Webb will demonstrate the Whole Brain Teaching techniques that she uses in her classroom, and Swaner will present her Interactive Word Walls. We will give them time and a few resources to plan their own Interactive Word Wall.
Unravel the standards into digestible modules for your K-8 students. From hands-on, inquiry-based investigations to rigorous assessments. STEMscopes takes the guesswork out of teaching and planning.
We want teachers to understand the process of Special Education as well as give them instructional strategies to help those students in the classroom. BrainPOP is not just an app where students watch videos. Attendees will learn how to use the Make-a-Map, Make-a-Movie, and Creative Coding features in BrainPOP. They will choose one of these features and create an assignment in BrainPOP. Teachers will leave with the knowledge necessary to facilitate lessons using these advanced features in BrainPOP.
Training your small woodland creatures on how to use the Chromebooks doesn't require bite-proof gloves or updated inoculations - just some understanding of how these tools can help you achieve your academic goals. We will have an overview of Google Classroom and other assorted apps to show you different ways to assess and supplement student learning, both in and out of the classroom.
Shingler and I will demonstrate how stations in middle school can work. We would like to present how classroom management and environment should look in order for stations to work effectively that also allows for small group instruction. We will present a whole mini lessons and then allow for teachers to complete some missions. At each mission you will be allowed time to see how you could incorporate that type of station in your classroom. We will have you up and moving.
